Customized Burlap Bags Girls Trip, Bachelorette, Wedding Party…
After college I was lucky enough to meet and become a part of a group of girlfriends that mostly had gone to college together. I was just out of college, working (teaching elementary art) and living in South St. Paul but most of my friends from college had moved to closer to the Twin Cities. So one of them connected me to a coworker/friend of hers who was looking for a roommate. We instantly hit if off, I moved in, made connections with her friends from college and they welcomed me into their group as one of their own.
This group of girls had been doing an annual girls trip they call Girls Getaway for several years, I think I joined somewhere in the double digits. This trip was usually to a cabin or resort in MN, but for GG15, (which we actually thought was 14 until we returned home and were creating shared photo albums, lol) we went to Miami, FL! One of the girls had recently moved to the Miami area so we all were actually able to stay with her and explore and enjoy our time together.
For each Girls Getaway we always get a piece of customized swag. Some of the past items we have gotten are beach towels, yeti cups, shirts, etc.
For the 2023 trip I had the time, so I was able to be involved in designing and creating the swag! Here is what I created...
Directions
Each of the Burlap Bags was personalized with our friends names. I used the Cricut design software to create the design using the font "Hey Marilyn" I made the width of each name 10 inches, and the height 5.5 inches. I used my Cricut Explore 3 Smart Cutting Machine to cut it out on Heat Transfer Vinyl White making sure to set the "iron on" setting so the image was cut mirrored. I like to use the tools from this Cricut Basic Tool Set when weeding, I also use a Weeding Scrap Collector whenever I am weeding vinyl. For the next step I used my Cricut Easy Press 2. I put wax paper or a towel in between the bag so it did not get stuck together and if needed repressed the name or corner of the name as needed.Products linked are my favorites or highly recommended for each project. The Extras
They are absolutely darling as is, but I felt they needed a little something extra and we had a boat trip planned for the week, so I found some cute lightweight scarves at the Dollar Tree and tied them to each handle.
Inside the bags I placed little Canvas Pouches for the girls so they could put small things in a securely zip it up. I also used the design software to create a "GG Miami" logo with purple and teal vinyl and pressed that on to the outside of the pouches.
For this trip we also all ordered these adorable matching Crochet Cover Ups in various colors it was so fun to mix and match and it is a piece I am able to use again. And of course, if you know me, you know I traveled in-style/comfort with a little pink sparkle Luggage Travel Cup Holder ;)
