Seed Starting Mix

Every time I have started seeds in the past I have used a BAG of seed starting mix and had to haul several of them home for the amount of seeds I wanted to sow. This year with the plan to start the cut flower garden I needed several ounces of seed starter. I came across this Burpee Organic Coconut Coir Concentrated Seed Starting Mix and has been an absolute game changer for me! I do not have to haul several large bags of seed starter pre mixed the bags. I feel like it is better for the environment with less packaging and for me it was about half the price as a pre mixed bag of the same size!

I chose to make the mix in a large clear plastic tub that I had a lid to so I was able to store the mix for later. All I had to do was add the recommended amount of water, wait, and mix it up!

I then used the mix to fill up my seeding trays, sowed my seeds and sprinkled a bit of vermiculite over each cell.

I hope you I hope this project was helpful or inspiring! If so, please let me know by leaving a comment! Remember to come back regularly to keep up with my farm, art, restoration and other miscellaneous adventures. Thank you!

Xoxo, B
