Walk-In Greenhouses with Simple Set-Up

I started my plants months ago in our basement on a wire shelf with shop lights connected by zip ties nothing too fancy!

To see what seeds I have started this year, visit my post "Starting Seeds Spring 2024".

This set up has been working perfectly well for the beginning stages of the seedlings.

However, some of them have been growing down there now for months and have only been exposed to artificial light. I can tell by their coloring and some of the slower growth that it is time for some authentic sunshine to be in the mix. Unfortunately, we are deep into April and the Minnesota weather is no where near allowing me to bring plants outside! It is actually sleeting/snowing as I am writing this!

I kept seeing all of these really nice, permanent and heated greenhouses all over the internet but at this point in time a structure like that is not a feasible solution for us. So when I saw that Aldi had a walk-in greenhouse for under $40 I had to stop at a store as soon as I could. Luckily for me there was ONE left at my local store, I grabbed it, even though at the time, I wasn't sure what I was actually going to do with it!

After a little brainstorming and a check of the next week's weather I decided I would just set it up in our "sun/dining room". This room has windows on three sides allowing the most natural light in the house through and with a little shifting there was plenty of space for me to set up the greenhouse.

My "Walk-In Greenhouse" is from Aldi and is 4.7 feet wide, 2.4 feet deep, and 6.4 feet in height, it has 6 shelves (not including the floor space) a zip/roll up door and was so simple to set up. We have 3 animals, a cat and two dogs so the greenhouse indoors or outdoors allows me to give the plants natural light and keep them separate from the curious critters. :)

I am not affiliated with Aldi but they do often times have some great products at really affordable and in my opinion, more than reasonable prices. This greenhouse, in particular, is one of those items but I could not find a link online so you will have to check your local store as well! If you were not able to get one from Aldi this time, there are several Walk-in Greenhouses available online. Although lacking a shelf on each side, which I cannot find in my searches, these greenhouses are similar in size and simplicity to mine, and are in the same price range! Products linked are my favorites or highly recommended for each project.  As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. See something you like? Click it! After I moved my plants up to the now set up greenhouse, I also brought up a couple of my shop lights and hung them inside the greenhouse to provide extra light. Soon I will start to harden off the seedlings and when the threat of freezing is over in Minnesota they will be planted in our garden and hopefully grow and flourish into beautiful flowers.

I hope you found this helpful or inspiring! If so, please let me know by leaving a comment! Remember to come back regularly to keep up with my farm, art, restoration and other miscellaneous adventures. Thank you!
